Kay Michael Lee Studio will be holding a send-off for its competition lines on Friday, February 5 at 5:30p.m. at The Well located at Williston State College in Williston. The Competition Send-off will showcase routines that will be taken to competitions in North Dakota, Montana, and Wisconsin.
Kay Michael Lee Studio will be sending 13 dancers in three competition lines (Diamond, Emerald, and Ruby) to represent the studio and also grow as dancers. “Participating in competitions is a great way for a dancer to grow in terms of confidence, performance, technique, and sportsmanship,” Co-founder and Artistic Director Sarah Christianson commented. “Some of our fondest dance memories surround our times at competitions. Not only did we learn from first-hand participation on stage, but also from participating in workshops and watching other studios’ routines. We also formed lifelong relationships with dancers across the nation from these events, which is incredible.”
Their dancers will be competing in solos, duos, trios, and group numbers in ballet, tap, hip hop, lyrical, modern, jazz, and musical theatre. “We really push our dancers to be well-rounded in the different genres of dance, which puts them outside of their comfort zones,” says Christianson. “Dancing is a combination of artistic expression and athleticism, which we strive to have a balance of and are excited to share with the dance community and our community as a whole.”
After the performances, a social will be held, with beverages sponsored by C Cups Espresso. Kay Michael Lee Studio is excited to have the Williston Wonderettes, Williston High School’s award-winning drill team, as featured guest performers.
There will be a free will donation at the door for admission. For more information, please contact Sarah Christianson at info@kaymichaelleestudio.com or www.kaymichaelleestudio.com.
